Unintended Consequence of Hiring an Attorney for a Technical Violation | Debt Collection Agency | Eastpoint Recovery Group, Inc | Buffalo, NY

In this day and age, there is no shortage of people who are struggling to stay afloat financially. This is especially the case since the inceptions of the pandemic. With that being said, as a professional debt collection agency, we take a tremendous amount of pride in being ethical, and helpful in finding an amicable solution to help our consumers who have fallen on tough times. Over the last couple years, we have seen an increasing amount of consumers who have seen an attorney advertisement that can “help” them. Typically, what this translates to is, the attorney notifying the agency of an alleged technical violation, and threatening lawsuit. It may be accompanied by a pitch that it is zero out of pocket expense to you, and both yourself and the attorney will get paid as a result of the “violation”. Here is what the debt collection attorneys won’t mention; As a result of these increased, often-times unfounded claims by attorneys, debt collection agencies have had to figure out some sort of recourse to battle this. Unfortunately, in some cases, this means referring the account to an attorney’s office or network and reviewing the account for lawsuit worthiness. Many of these accounts would never get to this point, as many reputable debt collection agencies are more than willing to work directly with the consumer to help resolve their past due accounts.
